Western Star: A State of the Industry Commentary from Ron Cadwell,
President and CEO of CCBill and The Phoenix Forum
Since we volunteered to manage the Phoenix Forum in 2001, attendance has grown exponentially. Created for webmasters, The Phoenix Forum has remained true to its original grass roots focus. It fulfills this goal by providing an annual gathering where everyone participates. The Forum has achieved success for those involved by providing valuable networking, accessibility, and information.
Success has been spurred by keeping it free for webmasters, including those new to the industry. We made an early conscious decision there would be no exclusive or VIP events, giving every participant the same opportunity to meet and speak with the CEOs and decision makers of some of the largest companies in the Industry.
While many attendees claim they come for the networking, it is the daily programming that sets the Phoenix Forum apart from other similar mid-sized events. We continue to make a concerted effort to create compelling panel discussions by industry experts, focused on education over influence.
We've been extremely fortunate to attract large industry players for sponsorship, and the event has consistently improved each year, benefiting from their support and marketing savvy. Their loyalty has reinforced our commitment to provide the highest value to those who contribute and attend, as this event does not belong to any individual or group, but to the collective enrichment of those who choose to participate.
While we acknowledge much of the Phoenix Forum's success has been serendipitous, we are excited at what our little desert get together has become. We had no idea it would earn such a great reputation - but it has - because everyone involved with it genuinely loves it. Hosts, sponsors, and the attendees truly enjoy it, and are committed to its success.
We thank everyone for their involvement - the dedicated sponsors, enthusiastic attendees, and of course, the helpful volunteer assistants.
Thanks for your support, and we hope to see you again next year!
Ron Cadwell, CEO, CCBill
PS... Mark your calendars for next year - April 7 - 9, 2005!
