Cozy Flash: You Ain't Seen Nuthin' Yet
Interview with C-Pimp, by Kath Blackwell
There's one thing that can be said about the adult
Internet industry, and that is that nothing stays old and tired for
long. See anything that can be improved and is lacking spice or punch?
Give it a minute, because I bet someone is already working on a solution.
It doesn't matter what it is - processing, hosting, sponsorships or
content - there is always room for improvement.
Every once in awhile something really fresh comes along that raises
the bar, and causes everyone to sit up and take notice. Enter Cozy
Flash (www.cozyflash.com)
- the latest product development from the people who brought you Cozy
Frog, Cozy
Academy, Cozy
Campus and ZIP
Content. If you've been complaining that the content industry
isn't offering anything unique or new - then you're in for a treat.
Sit back - and prepare to be dazzled!
Kath: Can you give our readers a little background on Cozy Flash -
what it is, and what we can expect to see when we visit the site?
C-Pimp: Well, Cozy Flash is an online premium 'toon content provider
- it's pretty much one of a kind. It took a hell of a long time to
create, but we wanted to offer something that was different, and it
is definitely "up there" in terms of quality. Our goal was to bring
something new to the content market. We've got an online magazine,
cartoons, flash animations, interactive media, illustrated stories
and lots more goodies.
Kath: How long was this project in the making - and how much did you
personally put into making this happen?
C-Pimp: It took a total of 14 months after its first conception, and
ultimately took a team of ten people in addition to Girly and me.
We knew off the get-go, and were very adamant to make sure we had
talent that had never worked in the adult industry before. At the
beginning, we knew nothing about this type of content or how to get
the right people for the job. We talked about it for a month, just
planning, doing a lot of research at a lot of Web sites - checked
out a lot of 'toon providers. We wanted to do something different
- we were very sure about that.
To begin with, we didn't really have an actual plan - whether we wanted
it to be a plug-in provider, a download provider (like Zip Content)
or just a paysite. We just wanted to get into illustration and animation
- 'toons - that area. We checked out many individuals who were active
in the mainstream market, and picked out about four or five illustrators.
With time, another two or three came on board. Once we saw how incredible
the people with whom we were working were, we learned a lot. I personally
learned a lot more as it progressed and I got more ideas, put more
money into the pot, and decided to take a lot more time developing
the entire project. It took about six months before we finally came
to the decision that it would be a plug-in provider, and finally agreed
on what we wanted to do with it.
The only thing that was pre-determined was that I would do all of
the design work, interface designs and setup and my ZIP partner -
Tony, would do the programming. Girly and I came up with the concepts,
theme, characters and ideas from the ground up, with some incredible
help from the artists. We initially scripted, and then chose all the
products, their names and everything all from the ground up.
I have to give a lot of credit to the artists and writers who pitched
through a lot of great ideas. This has definitely been the most difficult
project I've ever been involved with - nothing has been more exhausting
- all the time and effort that goes into making something like this
happen. A lot of paysite owners talk about how they are all offering
the same stuff - so we wanted to offer something different and original
to the webmasters, to hopefully satisfy a need that they might have.
