How to Create a "Simple" Free Site

A simple free site? Is there really such an animal? With 101 different ways to go about building one of these things - your best bet is to go with the basics. In this tutorial you will be provided with a basic outline - the basic floor plan - for a simple free site.
After we hit the basics, we'll touch on the 100 other ways you can build a free site. After all, the Internet is full of endless possibilities. Try enough methods, plans and ideas out and you'll find the one that will take you dragging bags of money to the bank!
BUILDING THE BASICS:
The Index Page...
Your basic free site is comprised of several very specific pages. The first page (labeled index.html) is the most important, and the one you should probably put the most thought into. A lot of webmasters call this their "warning page" or "start page" and what you put into it will ultimately result in what you get out of it.
The most important thing you need to remember is that you should NEVER put any hardcore or offensive/obscene materials on your front page. This is the page where you are giving minors - or persons who might be offended by adult or sexual content - a last chance to "back out" and leave your site. Why would you put something blatantly offensive or hardcore right there on your "front door" for the whole world to see? You wouldn't - so save the spread shots and BDSM stuff for the inside of your site.
You also need to watch your logo, the text you use and the banners you choose from the sponsors that you are promoting. All photos and images (this includes cartoons and anime) should be softcore, which means: no genitalia, no nipples (including areolas) and positively no simulated or otherwise seemingly offensive and suggestive positions. Think about those underwear commercials on TV - they're hot without being nude or offensive to most people. This is the look that you want to go for on your index page.
Essential ingredients include: enter and exit buttons or links; a simple warning advising surfers of adult content; your copyright or "all rights reserved" information at the bottom of the page; a contact e-mail address for the webmaster (that's you) and a link to your US 18 Code 2257 information. You may also include banners to sponsors, link trades, an ASACP or FSC supportive button and anything else you want to throw in. We'll go over all those extras later in the tutorial. For now, let's just work on the basics.
The "enter and exit" buttons - these can be graphical images simply stating EXIT and ENTER, or they can be simple hyperlinks stating the same. You will want to include text with each saying something like, "Yes I am of legal age and wish to view adult materials" with the ENTER button, and "No I am not of legal age or do not wish to view adult materials" with the EXIT button. The "enter" button will link to your main page "inside" your site, and the "exit" button should link either to a non-adult search site (like Yahoo! or Google), or to one of your own non-adult sites or affiliates.
The simple warning should state something like "Warning! Contents of this site are of an adult/sexual nature. If you are not of legal age (18/21 depending upon your own local laws) or if you are not legally allowed to view adult materials in your area, do NOT enter this site." You can expand on this as much or as little as you want. Basically, this is not legal advice - this will not help you avoid an obscenity prosecution, but it will help keep some minors out of your site and could prevent those who truly do not want to see adult content from entering as well.
Stating "Copyright 2004 - All Rights Reserved" also will not safeguard your site, your logo or any of your other material unless you actual file for copyright protection with the government, however stating such will prevent some thieves from stealing things from your site. Believe it or not, a lot of these things that you do out of hope for prevention can be helpful even if they are not 100% legally binding. To be as certain of your legal position and safety as possible, invest in a call to a qualified adult industry attorney like Larry G. A contact e-mail address is very important. You shouldn't rely on a Hotmail account or other such free e-mail account - it is recommended that you use a webmaster@yoursite.com address through your hosting company. You want to make sure you can be contacted if there are any problems with your site. Being up-front, honest and available can help avoid misunderstandings or bigger problems down the road.
Probably the most important information to be provided is your US 18 2257 Compliance information. Just place a hyperlink to a separate 2257.html page on your index.html page (and all pages containing adult content if you want to be extra safe). On that 2257 page give all the information regarding your legal use of the content, the age requirement statements about the models whose photographs appear on your site as well as the address to where these records of proof are kept. IMPORTANT: Please consult with an experienced adult Internet attorney for the exact wording and requirements to make this page and statement legally sound. Do not rely on advice from others - always cover your behind whenever possible.
