Program ideas, methods for doing things, ways of obtaining and targeting traffic - many have come and gone over the years, each promising to out-do the other, yield better results and be the next big thing... |

ALEXA and the Numbers:
How Does Your TGP Compare?
Your stats are key to understanding how well your site and
marketing campaigns are going. But how well are you doing
in comparison to your competitors? Finding out is the business
of competitive intelligence - and that takes you to a concern
with other webmasters numbers. Numbers don't lie. You need
to make sure you measure the numbers important to your business
and some are more important than others: "Weeding out the
important information from the not-so-important information
is vital to taking a proper 'temperature' of how your site
is doing." She goes through the most basic and important metrics
pertaining to a site... |

Posts and the Free Content Model
There is no mystery why TGPs attract a lot of traffic-they're
a free lunch (and we always thought there was no such thing)!
Exactly how much traffic? The following are current traffic
stats for some of the higher-trafficked TGPs. The rank is
the site's standing among all available websites. Reach measures
the number of users. "Reach is typically expressed as the
percentage of all Internet users who visit a given site. So,
for example, if a site has a reach of 28%, this means that
if you took random samples of one million Internet users,
you would on average find that 280,000 of them visit the site..."

Lütge-Smith
Optimization can increase your traffic. Optimization refers
to the steps needed to make sure that your keywords are incorporated
in your easy-to-use site in such a way as to make it highly
visible to search engines. This also means that it is important

The Neophyte Webmasters'
Guide to TRAFFIC - by Jo Hawke,
AEBN.com
Thumbnail Gallery Post (TGP) and Movie Gallery Post (MGP)
are the traffic kings. They were invented just shortly after
the invention of 'dirt' and have been maturing nicely ever
since. The days of the picture-post are gone for the most
part. The free sites are still around, but they take a fairly
substantial amount of time to build. AVS sites (Age Verification
or adult age check systems) are also going the way of the
dinosaur. Once the dust settles, what remains will be the
TGPs and MGPs. They're fast and easy to build, and have a
theme that surfers understand - FREE... |

Traffic Metrics:
Handle with Care
Traffic is the key mechanism of making money as a webmaster,
so its importance can't be over-estimated. It needs to be
measured, analyzed, studied, and managed-otherwise you don't
know how you're doing, whether it's time to make changes,
or evaluate the effectiveness of marketing, content, and design
efforts. "Useful Web site statistics are not just numbers;
they're tools for making decisions and taking actions. They
have a single purpose-to make your Web site more effective
in achieving its goals..." |

TGP: The Biggest Traffic
Resource You're NOT Using -
by Kath Blackwell
According to WebmasterGlossary.com, a TGP - or Thumbnail Gallery
Post is "a list of thumbnail galleries... one of the major promotion
methods for free adult sites." The differences between TGP
and Link List submissions and the pages that are built are
relatively small, but the differences in the traffic received
from TGP sources versus Link List traffic can be phenomenally
different! But... before you venture into the "great unknown"
world of TGP traffic, gallery building and submissions, you
should definitely take the time to research it a little and
see what you're getting into... |

A Traffic Powerhouse:
Greenguy from Link-o-Rama.com
- by Kath Blackwell
When most people think of Greenguy... they think of Link-o-rama.com,
"the" link list and adult traffic powerhouse of the Internet.
But... there's much more to the "Great Green One" than meets
the eye. In addition to being an undisputed leader in link
list traffic, Greenguy also owns and runs an amateur pay site,
an affiliate program - and most recently, a brand new resource
site and message board! Klixxx Magazine was thrilled to get
a few precious hours of Greenguy's time to talk about his
new ventures, successes and plans for the future... |

Cross Town Traffic
- by Brian, TotemCash.com
When dealing with your traffic management, apart from a few
straightforward rules or 'guidelines' about how to best reference
your site, the rest depends on you! Sounds scary, doesn't
it? When it comes to traffic, you are the master of your universe.
Okay, so it obviously helps if you've got a stack of dollar
bills the height of Sears tower to work with, but as Jean-Claude
Van Dam would say, it's all about being "aware." When you
hear about some traffic for sale that interests you, make
sure you do a test run with a sample... |

Who's Stealing
Your Web Traffic? - by Dyanna
Culp (Temos)
The sole function of thief, or scumware, is to steal Web traffic
and redirect it to paid advertisers' Web sites. You cannot
stop traffic thieves by modifying your Meta tags, more sophisticated
code is required, and Gator is impossible to stop. Thiefware
bombards surfers with pop ups, banners, and hypertext links
taking them off to scumware advertiser sites. For example,
you're browsing a site's computer game options and click on
an appealing text link. At that moment your browser is kidnapped
and off you go to a scumware Web site. It's a very attractive
proposition for Web sites struggling to make a living... just
"steal" the competition's traffic... |

How Well Do You
Know Your Traffic? - by Levi
Stanley
How much traffic do you really have? Knowing how many people
view your ads, and how many people click your ads is very
important in analyzing how much traffic you really have. Moreover,
knowing this information will help you figure out which of
your banners convert well, and which do not. Many affiliate
programs have hundreds of great looking banners, but only
a few that appeal to your traffic. Finding the right banners
fast is imperative, as knowing your traffic maximizes your
sales... |

The Scoop on
Auto-Submission - by Danny Collins
I've noticed recently, there seem to be a number of people
considering an investment in an auto submitter. But before
they make that leap, as would any good consumer, they're hitting
the boards to ask for advice. They want to know if auto submitters
are worth the money. They want to know which auto submitters
are the best. They want to know what distinguishes a good
submitter from a bad submitter. They want to know the advantages
and disadvantages of auto submitting vs. manual submitting...

Getting Traffic:
It's More Than Just Opening a Door & Letting Them In
- by Kath Blackwell
Imagine this... You build a site, open the doors, and the
surfers just start to pour in. You've got a lot of traffic,
but not a lot of conversions. So you try other forms of traffic.
You experiment with search engines, paid directory listings,
link lists, TGPs - maybe even a link exchange here and there.
Your traffic is steady and predictable, but still, your conversions
are low. Your webmaster's dream has just turned into a nightmare!
It's time to reassess your situation, take a long hard look
at your traffic, the market you are trying to reach and identify
what it is that your surfer's want, so you can successfully
meet their needs... |

How to Sell the Cow While Giving the Milk for Free
- by Kath Blackwell
It's an age-old saying with lots of merit, but is it possible to sell the cow if you're handing out free milk right and left? Well, yes and no. You can if you think about the different levels of quality in the free content that you are offering. You wouldn't give away a case of the high-grade AAA quality stuff for free, would you? But maybe a sample of it in another form, say a lick of ice cream, a small sip of the chocolate version - heck even a little nibble of cheese made from the quality milk will get them hungry for more... |

The Real Lowdown on Adult Traffic
- by Kath Blackwell
Even veterans talk about how traffic can be as unpredictable as the weather. You can suddenly get this enormous flood of traffic, so huge that it overwhelms you. Then the next day it could be gone, a virtual desert with just a few measly surfers visiting per hour, your stats page moving slower than you ever imagined. Sometimes there are those periods of steady calm with predictable amounts of traffic converting at a regular ratio. Ahhh, now that's the ticket! So, what's "ideal" traffic and how can you reach and sustain that happy medium?... |

Step Right Up - Traffic for Sale!
Traffic is never really free. Webmasters gain it through hard work or barter--often swapping traffic for traffic. But it's also for sale; and maybe you should be buying. The basic economics of e-commerce are pretty simple: get traffic ? convert it ? make money. But the winning equation is: get lots of traffic ? convert lots of it ? make lots of money. Webmasters generate traffic in many ways, including search engines, picture and thumbnail gallery posts, top and link lists, banner exchanges, mailing lists, traffic trades, and referrals. And, there is no shortage of offers to sell these types of traffic... |

Building Casino Traffic
The Internet gambling business is currently the fastest growing industry in the world. Bear Stearns estimates that some 1,400 casino Web sites generated revenue of $1.5 billion last year from online gaming, a figure expected to grow to $5 billion by 2003. Online casinos are a big part of that business, and obviously there is much potential traffic--very lucrative traffic. How do you attract a share of it to your online casino?... |

Still Trying to Snag Super Summer Surfers? - by Kath Blackwell
We're going to talk about how you can actively snag some mainstream specific traffic from the engines, directories and other traffic resources. There are many mainstream options open to you, and there's no reason on earth why you should limit yourself to just one traffic resource. Adult webmasters often overlook alternative opportunities for snagging different types of mainstream traffic... |

Traffic: The Holy Grail of Webmastering - by Kath Blackwell
Traffic - the single most important thing in a webmaster's life. We obsess over how to get it; how to filter it; how to target it; how to improve it; how to use it; how to sell it; how to buy it; how to get more of it. It's literally what makes the Internet go 'round, and getting it, using it and managing it is definitely one of the most important keys to success... |

TO SUBMIT OR NOT TO SUBMIT - by Mick Stalin
"Someone you've never seen before, and don't know, shuffles across the sidewalk and stuffs a flier for a local club in your hand. Later, back at your hotel, a friend attending the same convention slips you a card, and tells of a mind-blowing time at a different club. Which club will get your patronage? The engines work pretty much the same..." |

Understanding the Mysteries of Search Engines - by Dyanna S. Culp, Temos
You want to run, not walk, from anyone offering to submit you to more than 50 search engines. Why? Those programs submit you to sites masquerading as search engines. They have huge unwieldy lists of all submitted sites and the only people who use them are Internet marketing fiends searching for e-mails to spam with their solicitations. Learning the search engine ropes requires skill, patience and some regular research... |

Who's Who in Search Engines - by Dyanna S. Culp, Temos
Most Web surfers know the search engines Yahoo!, AOL, maybe even Looksmart, or my personal favorite Google. But, what about Excite- with four times the traffic of Looksmart, and almost half that of Yahoo!? Or Dmoz and All the Web, behind the scenes suppliers of site information, to heavyweights such as AOL and Lycos? And, no serious Marketing guru ignores Overture these days. SEO (Search engine Optimization) with perfect meta-tags and killer content is no longer enough... |
