(Los Angeles, CA) - The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) believes that the proposed 2257 changes will do nothing to stop child pornography since its hotline data indicates that the professional adult entertainment industry is not involved in child pornography (CP).ASACP (www.asacp.org) has managed a CP reporting hotline since 1996. Over the last two years, ASACP has received over 150,000 reports of suspect child pornography sites; only 8% of these are new, unique verifiable CP sites. ASACP data indicates that 99.9% of these reports can be attributed to non-adult webmasters or pedophiles, not professional adult companies. The ASACP Compliance Manager investigates all reports to discover as much information possible about the suspect sites including hosting company, billing company, domain registrar, etc. Most of the companies used by child pornographers are mainstream, NOT adult. "The government has the same data as ASACP. They must know that 99.9% of CP has nothing to do with the professional adult industry," said Joan Irvine, executive director of ASACP.
