Please tell us about your name - what does it mean, where did you get it?
Well, it is funny, but embarrassing too. I wanted to use the name Bastet, which is one of the Egyptian Gods for felines and the moon. But the first time I used it, I misspelled it, before I noticed it, someone in a chat room asked me "So what are you best at?" and I thought, what the heck I will keep it. LOL
You are hailed as the "anime expert" - how did you earn that title?
Hailed? Oh my! Well, when I first got into the business in early '99, I started like most folks, building free sites and a link list. One of the sites I really liked and wanted to use as a sponsor was 'Toon Erotica, by Amber. But, I did not like using sponsor content, since it did not convert as well, so I went to buy some toon/anime content and found there was none available, no content provider offered it. So, I did a lot of research into the niche, and starting having my own content created, and then of course eventually went into marketing the content as well. It was really an unknown niche for most people, so I have spent a great deal of time in educating webmasters about it, how well it converts, the different types of content, etc. So the name came along with that.
In addition to content, what other types of programs or services does EMG offer?
Exclusive Content.com is the content arm of Exclusive Media Group - EMG itself, is my webmaster program. I offer a 60% partnership on our niche sites, as well as an upsale program on Adult Anime Games and Movies, which are hugely popular. I offer my affiliates: free content, a unique 'Toon of the Day, tutorials on how to market the niche, and even free lotto sites, to help bring in traffic. I also own Sexy Toon Mailer, which is a double opt-in newsletter, and I advertise my affiliates sites in that as well, at no charge of course.
What is the difference between Hentai and Anime?
Ahhhh, the number one question I hear...LOL There is a very long version of this answer, but reading some of the articles I have written would be best for that. For the short and sweet version, in it's most simplistic, Anime is softcore and Hentai is hardcore. Both have the same unique characteristics, large eyes, small nose, brightly colored hair and the Japanese style.
Is it true that a lot of the 'Toon content on the 'Net is stolen or used without license?
Unfortunately, yes. Especially the wonderful Japanese works. Because there are so many fans of this type of art, there are literally thousands of images out there, and unethical people have been stealing it for years for their own sites.
Exclusive Content - how exclusive is Exclusive?
The art found on EC with the exception of the amazing Bishoujo Art from Japan, is all created exclusively for my site, it is also exclusive to my site for sales. You will not find my images on other content broker sites (if you do, let me know! lol). I limit the amount of sales on each set of art; this keeps the content fresh and not overused in the market, making it more valuable to the webmasters who purchase it.

What is the appeal of cartoon sex - I mean, wouldn't people rather pay to look at real live naked chicks?
The appeal is the same as with any market, it is in the "eye" of the credit card holder. :) This niche has been popular since the first day a caveman drew on his cave wall. Cartoons appeal to us on many levels and we never really grow out of it. A lot of surfers are into this niche for the artwork itself; they enjoy the erotic illustrations and admire the art. Others are into it for the fantasy aspect; you can have 'toons do things that a human could not possibly do. Others are into the story aspect of comics, and enjoy following the characters throughout new issues each month. In Japan, comics (called Manga in Japan) are extremely popular with adults, and can be detective stories, romance novels as well as sexual in nature. I also think there are a certain amount of surfers who feel surfing dirty cartoons is ok, it is not really porn.
How long have you worked within the adult industry?
Since 1999.
Do you need to have art training or a degree to be a' toon artist for EMG?
No, I will evaluate anyone's art as long as they are over 18, and I offer more than just 'toons and anime, artists that create erotic art or illustrations are also welcome to submit works.
Any predictions on the future for anime/toons/hentai - is this niche still growing?
Oh yes, the past two years have seen great growth in this niche, especially in adult sites. This has been, and continues to be a huge underground niche, and every day new people are introduced to it. Like with any other adult content, there will be a demand for it. I think that there is going to have to be growth and innovation in creating new content, just as with any niche. Flash offers some unique and fresh ways to present 'toons, as do e-books and other developments. To stay on top of any industry, you have to constantly look at new ways to keep current clients happy and attract new ones. But the demand will definitely be there.
