How long have you been working in the adult industry?
I started working for Cyber2000 in March 2002.
What did you do before you started working on the 'Net - and how did your earlier experiences help you find success in this industry?
I worked at HMV - a chain of International music stores. I worked mostly in marketing and as a video/DVD buyer. I also had the chance to work a lot with the public during my time there, which gave me some really good training in human resources. I learned a lot about marketing strategies and how to keep your customers happy - which definitely comes in handy in my current position.
What is iWorldFilter.com and what does it do?
The iWorldFilter is an International traffic converter. In a nutshell, it's a script that a webmaster puts on the main page of their site and the filter then detects the browser language and IP address and then depending on the method the webmaster has chosen proposes a paysite in the language of the visitor. It basically optimizes your investment to your International traffic.
How important is International Traffic to the American market?
I don't think it's really a question of how important International Traffic is to the American market, since it's already part of the main stream of traffic that the American market is surviving off of. The part that is important is to make it convert better and more efficiently than it already is, that's where the iWorldFilter comes in.
What is the biggest mistake that you see web companies making today?
Spamming and that does not exclude what I like to call 'human spam,' like sending mass messages through messenger programs or ICQ, etc. I agree that it is very important to get your message across in an original way, but when it's within the people of the industry that are already overloaded with spam, it just gets very annoying.
You've lead women-in-the-industry supporting events in the past, how important do you feel it is for more women to become involved in the industry?
I wouldn't say that it's especially important that more women become involved in the industry per se, but that women should not be discouraged from entering into this industry because of the stigma that it is male dominated. Also that the women who do work in this industry be treated with the same professionalism and respect that any man would be. From what I have seen so far from my experience, many of the ladies that work amidst the men in the adult biz have taken their place in it.
If there were one thing you could change about the adult Internet, what would it be?
I would eradicate child pornography, plain and simple.
The industry has grown much since the 90's - where do you see it growing most in the next couple of years?
I'm certain that quite a few webmasters will try their hand at foreign language sites to take advantage of this 'new wave' of International traffic. However they will also discover that embarking into a market they are unfamiliar with on their own is not as simple as it seems. The initial boom will probably die down after a couple of months, and more companies will use cost effective products like the iWorldFilter.
How important is it to become involved in the webmaster community?
There are many mutual benefits to both the webmaster and to the webmaster community to being involved in it. If you enter with an open mind, you can end up learning a lot from other people's experiences. I think it is one of the best ways to learn, and also definitely one of the more fun ways.
What next? Anything new coming up that you can share with our readers?
Well some of our projects that are coming up I unfortunately can't talk about, but we are continually working on projects that utilize the strengths of the International markets and bringing together services and tools for our multi-lingual webmaster partners. The response we've received about the iWorldFilter so far has been overwhelming, and it has been keeping me very busy lately, however you can look forward to some more developments with the filter coming soon.
