Why should webmasters add game content to their sites?
Game content is like no other content on the market. Games in general create an addiction - something that people will play over and over again. Why? Because each time you play a game you get a different experience. You want to beat your old score, make it to the next level, or beat your previous time. Now though, with the "Adult" twist on the games, you take them to a whole new level. With all the competitiveness many paysites have these days, successful webmasters have seen the value and embraced interactive content like games. It might not help with the initial sign-up, but it will definitely help hook and retain your members.
Should free-site or AVS webmasters use games too - or are these mainly for paysite owners?
We offer free and AVS webmasters a different solution compared to our paysite owners. On the paysite end of things, we keep our premium game plug-ins totally exclusive to paysite membership areas only. This helps a lot because you will not find our content out on free-sites, and if you do, it is illegal content and we will have it removed. This gives more value to our paysite owners. On the flip site, we do have a URL that free and AVS webmasters can link to. The site can be access by going to www.FreeGameContent.com. There they will find a link to our partnership program where they can make 50% recurring on any upsells from using the free games plug-in. The free games have banners and other little inconveniences that allow people to enjoy the free play, but also want to upgrade to play uninterrupted. So really, between the premium plug-in games and also the free game content, I think we have all of the bases covered.
How much does it cost (on average) per month to feature your games on one's site?
Average is tough to say because we really try to work with each client specifically to meet their needs. If someone is opening a brand new site and it has little-to-no members, we will create a win-win relationship where we both will grow together. If your Web site were a "mega site," then we would also work with you to create an honest win-win pricing model. I am not looking to get rich off any client, I am looking for honest, long term, win-win relationships.
We also have different niches for the games, so we normally will expand the selection for little-to-no increase in pricing. It would definitely be worth visiting our site, at www.AdultWebGames.com, taking a demo, and we could talk from there.
What are some of the new games that you've just released?
At the beginning of the year we officially released our Multi-player games. This allows members from around the world to play against each other in real time. They also have the ability to chat back and forth while playing against each other. A couple of the games are set up so you can also allow other people to watch you while you are playing you opponent, but only if you want them to watch. In this multi-player selection you would find, Poker, Black Jack, Chess, Checkers, and Reversi (aka Othello).
Our newest launch though, is our new Adult Animation Novelties plug-in. The initial offering is eight separate games, and we will be adding two new games per month to the plug-in as well. These are totally different than our other games we have done in the past. I have gotten so much great feedback on these new games. I am sure a couple of them will make you laugh, and you would probably have the urge to want to forward the demo link for a friend to see them. I can't really describe them in this format. You really have to see them to understand what I am talking about! They are so popular that we already have two clients for whom we are developing exclusive custom animation novelties for their own sites.
Anything cool coming up that you can share with us?
Hehehe... We are always working on new things! A couple of projects we will be releasing between now and the summer Internext show, but I can't say anything more. Something I realized recently is that we can't pre-talk too much about our next releases. We have competitors trying to beat us to the market on some ideas, but we have been lucky so far to stay ahead of the pack. Let me just say, we are taking things up a couple of levels.
How long have you worked within the adult industry?
I have been in webmastering since 1994, but I did not step into the adult end of the online business until the latter part of 1999. Actually the end of 1999 is when AdultWebGames.com was launched. Boy, it seems like decades ago.
What are some of the differences between adult folks and mainstream folks?
I think there is a huge misconception on the outside world about those in the online adult industry. Initially, I was intimidated when I first looked into this business thinking I would be a small fish among only corporate giants. Quickly I realized there were a ton of people in this business that were similar to me. Scary isn't it. Just kidding. I was totally surprised how friendly and community oriented many of the resource sites were. One of my first friends online was Rocki, who was selling ads for Klixxx at the time. Kudos to her, she really took me under her wing when I attended my first Internext show a few years ago.
You know I love your promo materials - how important is it for companies to have memorable hand-outs at webmaster expos?
I come from a marketing and branding background, so that is something that was very important to me when I attended my first Internext convention. No one at the time knew me, so I needed something to stand out. I had never been to one of the shows before, and didn't know what I was working against. I took a step back and looked at what my company was- an adult games content company. Then I thought about the convention being in 'Vegas, which is casino heaven. I linked the two together and decided to hand out poker chips. I thought it would give the idea to people- what my company was about. I have since seen the idea copied a couple of times at the shows, I am just glad I was the first to do it.
I also have to give some praise to Raven of www.Sin-Text.com. She keeps beating me up to go back to these types of promotions, but I resisted her and have done standard fliers on the past few shows. I learned my lesson hard on that one - fliers don't stand out, and don't make you different in a crowd of 4,000 people. Something like a unique poker chip or other idea that hasn't been done, will. I have a couple new tricks up my sleeves for the next show, so we will see what happens.
You've just recently launched the webmaster board at RatedHot.com - why a new board in an industry so full of webmaster boards?
Great question. www.RatedHot.com actually was originally launched a little over two years ago. I initially created the site mainly for a place for me to do link trades and drive some webmaster traffic. I never really pushed the site out there in the world, until recently that is. I couldn't ignore the quiet, but solid webmaster following, and traffic the site was getting. I have hundreds of recip links out there. I also have ten top-ten rankings on Yahoo and Google, as an adult resource site, too. I couldn't keep ignoring these things.
On January 30, we officially re-launched the entire site and sent out a ton of press releases, etc. What was more interesting than that is the board you were mentioning, "The Hot Spot"? We did a soft launch of that a little more than a week in advance with no formal announcements. In the first nine days we were already over 1,100 posts. Some of the many new boards out there don't have that many in a six-month period. So why another board? It was easy for me, we already have the webmaster traffic and following at the site, it was time to make it more of a community.
Also, it is time to put a different style board and place to come to and hang out. Our concept is simple, "No Spamming, Flamming, or Spamming." I think a lot of webmasters are looking for a positive, upbeat place to come and hang out for a change. That is what we offer here. Not to mention the $5,000 in prizes we are giving away this month for just signing up and posting once.
With all the changes taking place - where do you see the adult industry three years from now?
I think that the only paysites that will survive long term are the ones with Adult Web Games content in their members' areas. (laughs) OK...Okay... what I mean is, I think paysites need to make sure they are giving their members their money's worth. At between a $35-$40 per month charge, I think members will be getting more and more demanding as time progresses.
Also, and I am not sure if this is good or bad, we have not been able to police ourselves as much, so I think the government will be stepping in sooner or later. I wish we would have been able to organize ourselves, but we will see what the future brings.
One last plug. Anyone that mentions Klixxx in the promo code on the site - I will give you free games content. So make sure you mention Klixxx for this exclusive offer!
