Tip #7: "How To Properly Use Templates"
At least twice a week, the topic of template sites & galleries comes up - and each time, we reply with the same thing. To be honest, we're getting sick of it! :) So, here's a bit of advice Tommy (www.tommys-bookmarks.com) gave me a few boards back that still holds true to this day - and it applies to free sites, galleries & AVS sites.
Build one completely new template every day for 30 days. This is a HUGE pain in the ass, especially since coming up with a new scheme or set up for the page(s) is very hard to do 30 times over. But, once you've done this, what you'll have is 30 completely different templates that you can use in order (Day 1 Template 1, Day 2 Template 2...Day 30 Template 30, Day 31 Template 1, Day 32 Template 2, etc).
The odds that a link list or TGP would ever get upset with you for using the same template 12 times a year are slim. In fact, I know people that have been doing this for over a year & I still don't notice the templates - especially if you change around the color schemes each time you re-use the template.
Remember, not too many things upset a reviewer more than seeing the same layouts over & over & over & over again - this will at least keep you semi-fresh looking & get you a few more listings & most importantly, more traffic! :)
